This free adjustable pattern is available to allow more people to wear masks in comfort, it is not be used to make products for sale but can be shared as much as you like.
Materials:
4mm hook
Aran weight yarn – cotton, washable., though this pattern would work in other weights with the recommended hook.
UK Terms pattern (scroll down for US terms)
For the band:
Ch29, tc in the 3rd chain from hook. *Ch1, skip a stitch, tc* repeat * to end of row.
Ch1. dc 4 stitches in end space. Dc around the band with 5 dc in end to turn. Slst to join and bind off.
Weave in ends.
For the buttons – make 4, leaving 2 with longer tails to join them together.
Ch 3, slst to form a circle. 12 tc into the circle and slst to join. Sl st around edge of circle to make it less flimsy. Bind off.
Join two circles back to back sewing into the stitches in the centre.
US Terms pattern
For the band:
Ch29, dc in the 3rd chain from hook. *Ch1, skip a stitch, dc* repeat * to end of row.
Ch1. sc 4 stitches in end space. sc around the band with 5 sc in end to turn. Slst to join and bind off.

The two buttons can then be pushed through the chain on the band at any point to create an ear saver the correct size for the individual.
